Our Bees
The Journey of a Bee
Bees can travel remarkable distances—up to 5 km from our farm—to gather nectar and pollen. This wide foraging range lets them collect from a vibrant mix of plants, resulting in richly balanced, flavourful honey.
You’ll often spot this little tool around our hives — it’s called a bee smoker.
It gently releases cool, calming smoke that helps our bees stay relaxed while we check on their hives. The smoke softens their natural alarm signals, letting us move slowly and respectfully through the colony without causing stress.
We use it with care, only when needed, so we can peek inside the hive, make sure everyone is healthy, and gather honey without upsetting the rhythm of the colony. It’s just one of the ways we make sure our bees feel safe and cared for while they work their magic.
Our Wildflowers
Our property is surrounded by a natural tapestry of wildflowers, and our bees spend their days exploring every bit of it. They visit countless blossoms—each offering its own unique nectar and pollen. These vibrant, naturally growing flowers play a huge role in the flavour and character of our honey.
Wildflowers create a rich and varied diet for our bees, giving them the nutrients they need to thrive. And as they gather from so many different blooms, they bring back a beautiful mix of nectars that blend together into the distinct, full-bodied taste our honey is known for.
Simply put - the more diverse the flowers, the more exciting the honey. And we’re lucky to have nature provide such an incredible selection right in our backyard.
